Just did an open house on Piedmont St in Blacksburg. The builder Highlander Construction and Development. They are the recipients of NRV Home Builder Association's "Builder of the Year" award for 2008. The homes on Piedmont (2 are completed) are earth craft certified and fully energy efficient. The layout was nice and semi open. My favorite features are;
*Location. Just 5 blocks from downtown.
*Great views from the decks. Yes, decks. The master has a deck off of it. The downstairs deck is fully screened and just off the kitchen. Very nice, in my opinion.
*Roomy half bath downstairs.
*On demand hot water! Love that
Real quick because someone might not know what that means....
Short version: On demand hot water means that the hot water is not stored in a tank (traditional hot water heater) and then used until it's gone. Traditionally, we get maybe 3 fifteen minute showers before the hot water starts to run out and the next person has to wait. The on demand system, the one they used is by Rinnai http://www.rinnai.us/tankless-water-heaters/?gclid=CLTGyr67ppwCFdZM5QodsHn9kQ heats the water as you use it. This allows you to shower from 8am until 8pm...if you want to.
Homes are 3 bedroom 2 1/2 baths, 2 story with 2 car garages, gas fireplace and they are located on a dead end street. Priced between $359,900.00 and $362,500.00
